Discipline of Electrical Engineering
The quality of power supply in India is basically deteriorating due to widening gap between
demand and supply, inadequate transmission and distribution system and diversity in loads. The
successful integration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) meet the load demand but at the same
time increases the severity of power quality (PQ) problems associated with injection of harmonics
and interharmonics in power system. The harmonics in power system may lead to many harmful
effects including signal interference, circuit breaker failure, equipment overheating
malfunctioning of protection and control circuits, etc.
Discipline of Physics
The search for the new materials for various electronic applications have dominated the research worldwide particularly after the development of silicon based tiny integrated circuits and BaTiO 3 based tiny capacitors. Very small as well as energy efficient electronic devices are replacing the conventional electronic circuit elements. While using these materials for dielectric application it is important to know the possible origin of dielectric loss and also crystallographic structure of these in greater details. The systematic studies involving, high resolution diffraction, Raman and optical absorption have been carried out.
